Environmental impact

With the annual increase in global energy consumption and challenges caused by climate change, solar energy has been grabbing most attention as a cheap and environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels. There are many ways in which the solar PV systems positively impact the environment:

Conservation of resources and environment

Solar energy provides access to a source of never-ending energy and does not require the fuel to be excavated from the ground, transported, refined, and then burned. This preserves natural landscapes that otherwise would be devastated by mining and refinement plants.

Energy production using fossil fuels is highly water-intensive, and the water is usually heavily polluted in the process. The transition to solar power helps save consumable water on our planet.

One of the lowest CO2 footprints

Solar PV systems offer one of the simplest means of generating renewable energy with the lowest CO2 footprint as compared to other renewable energy sources or fossil fuels. Even with the manufacturing and transportation of solar technology, the PV system significantly offsets its CO2 footprint over its lifecycle.

Pollution-free environment

Solar power plants may be installed in densely populated areas without causing any discomfort to the residents because the technology is noise and light pollution-free. Solar panels do not harm the environment and thus are perfect, especially in large cities, where air pollution generally reaches higher levels.

More freedom for the wildlife

Solar panels have minimal impact on flora and fauna. The PV systems are usually installed on carefully selected free fields or building rooftops, efficiently making use of already-developed urban environments. Using these idle spaces does not inflict harm on the wildlife in forests and other environments.

Tackling climate change

All previously mentioned factors contribute to slowing down global climate change and reducing the number of extreme weather cases. Droughts, heavy rainfalls, and heatwaves will become an ordinary reality without taking the necessary steps to fight the climate crisis in time. The transition to renewable energy resources is one of the most critical global shifts that need to take place to reduce CO2 emissions and stop climate change.
